Plan de trabajo para el grupo elite es el siguiente:
1. Consecución de recursos económicos para investigación desde convocatorias internas (desde la Universidad de los Llanos), convocarías locales (Alcaldía de Villavicencio, Gobernación del Meta), nacionales (MinCiencias) e internacionales (fondos concursables)
2. Fortalecimiento del recurso humano dispuesto en el grupo, promoviendo procesos de formación posgradual en maestrías de investigación y doctorados, participando en diversas convocatorias de becas nacionales e internacionales, así promulgando procesos de relevo generacional Logrando así que el grupo tiende a:
- Desarrollar estrategias sostenibles de alternativas terapéuticas en los sistemas salud producción animal tropical.
- Profundizar en los estudios de las diferentes fisiopatologías de las enfermedades infecciosas de animales de interés zootécnico.
- Propender por un ambiente de la universalización del conocimiento dentro de la comunidad del grupo de investigación, al generar la socialización del trabajo.
- Establecer puentes de comunicación permanente con el sector productivo para observar ventanas de mejoramiento dentro de los problemas cotidianos del trasegar productivo.
- Organizar procesos de evaluación permanente de las técnicas diagnósticas y terapéuticas de las actividades clínicas de grandes y pequeños animales, que retroalimenten positivamente el quehacer de la clínica veterinaria y profesionales del sector.
- Generar conocimiento contextualizado en las áreas de Medicina Interna de pequeños y grandes animales, Farmacología experimental y ecotoxicología. Validar información etnofarmacológica de la región Orinoquia dentro de modelos experimentales de sistemas de producción animal.
